How I Travel the World for a Living

The big question: "How do you gain life traveling the world" It seems a strange idea for most people - like a distant dream Tens of travel bloggers have written about it, but hope for?. bring a different perspective, because we live in one of the most expensive cities in the world (well, a seaside town near the city), we have to pay rent, the monthly utility bills, and no intention of sell everything to become permanent nomads.

I intended to leave everything behind in my twenties, but as I grew up and the roots planted in our beloved city beach, this desire has decreased. I see the value in the balance and found that lifestyle today makes me happy. Things can change in the future, but for now, I learn to be independent of location and work for myself, but with a base of operations.

So how can I make enough money for me to work and travel at least once a month? It's a combination of things, and often a balancing act that comes with some concern about where my next dollar is coming.

So far this year, I brought more revenue than I did in all of 2013. This does not mean that I will take all that money. There are costs associated with running a successful blog, including the costs of the PCA, the independent contracts, equipment insurance, travel insurance, new equipment, accommodation, and, of course, taxes. Not to mention the $ 320 per month now I can pay for health insurance.

Yet it's more than working for someone else and I am able to work from anywhere in the world, what I like!

PREPARATION FOR SELF-EMPLOYMENT

First steps on the path to self-employment can be daunting. I spent years studying everything I could get my hands. I had to work hard and sacrifice other things in my life to get where I am today. There are courses that really helped me to make the jump and confidence in my own ability to leave my traditional work. I recommend these online courses to anyone thinking of working for themselves: designed to sell and build your own empire in a year.

Working for yourself usually means your income comes from many different sources. Here are some of mine.

PHOTOS SALES

Most people are not going to get rich by selling photos, but pleasantly surprised when someone likes your photos enough to buy a tarp or printing. I'm always late to add to our existing portfolio of artwork pictures, so it's always a work in progress.

Not actively seeking employment situation, but we were hired by some hotels and restaurants in San Diego to provide images for your marketing materials. Also, if a destination as a photo or particular set of photos, which offer the opportunity to buy them. In the past, we photographed the construction of new homes and renovations for contractors, but our current photo portfolio includes mainly hotels, restaurants and travel destinations.

SOCIAL MEDIA CONSULTING

I work with several online businesses and local as a social media consultant. This is not always related to travel, so I am able to learn about different industries using social media. These projects range from small concerts from two weeks to several months.

Advertising Blog

Write sponsored tickets and put the banner from time to time in our blog. This income varies widely from month to month because we are very picky about who we work with.

Travel to Scotland

freelance

I wrote to a few sites in recent years. This part of my income has increased significantly over the last two months as publishers and website owners finding our website via Google search. If freelance writing is your dream, you want to read to become a freelance writer to get published and make money.

GOODS AND STOCK INVESTMENT

Investing in real estate with the family and I have been involved in flipping one or two houses each year. I bought my first house at the age of 21 years and I learned a lot about real estate and stock market investing my father. Since I was a child, she always worked for him and took intelligent investment decisions. He also taught me that sometimes you win and you lose some, but not always invest more than you can handle losing.

Partnerships with brands

There were a couple of brands in recent years we have managed to become brand ambassadors. These are generally long-term partnerships with companies offering products or services and we use or we think our readers would benefit from hearing about it.

SOCIAL media campaigns

We were invited to participate in social media campaigns paid during the last year. These are typically departments or hotels that invite a group of bloggers to help promote their destination.

Thinking of starting a travel blog?

As you can see, living the life of a professional travel blogger can be overwhelming at times. You must learn to juggle a million things, be aware of writing messages, often shared on social media and be able to produce several different revenue sources.

When I'm not traveling, I'm usually attached to my laptop, trying to fight against the urge to spend all day on the beach (which is only five minutes walk from our house). Multiple times in a week can get overwhelming and often feel like I'm never stuck at work.

In addition to content creation, we are still that our website works smoothly and we are currently changing our site from Textpattern WordPress. Fortunately, as StudioPress WordPress themes having to do a little less painful change.

If you are interested in starting a travel blog and do not know where to start, I bought the course Travel Blog Success six months after the launch of the blog and I can not recommend enough. The value that I got from this course continues today, four years later, with the forum and the Facebook group where I can share ideas with other bloggers travel professional to make money in this industry constantly changing.

Traveling in Mexico Loreto Islands

Although I love my job and I would not change it for the world, was not to become autonomous in a decision spur-of-the-moment. Both work 80 hours more per week for at least two years after the launch of our blog. Even when I started to see an income after a year, I continued my work part-time because the money is never constant. A few months make me $ 500 and a few months make me over $ 5000. I lost the first full month of travel blogging event in time, so I had to train myself to trust that things will inevitably occur when these slow months.
